Tobacco Retail  Advertising Project (TRAP)

Studies show that youth are three times more sensitive to tobacco advertising than adults and are more influenced to smoke by tobacco advertising than by peer pressure.  Knowing this, the tobacco industry spends over $13 billion annually marketing our youth.

To fight back against Big Tobacco, TAC has launched a campaign asking local tobacco retailers to reduce, remove and rearrange tobacco advertising in and around their stores.  Over 500 store owners across Long Island have agreed to particpate in our project.  Click below to see if your local store is involved, if not ask them to join us.

The second part of this initiative involves asking village, town and city boards to sign a resolution supporting the reduction of tobacco ads in their community.  Click to view sample resolution.

All school and community groups are invited to join us by starting a postcard petition or reaching out to thier local muncipality asking them to sign a resolution.  To partner with TAC, please contact  at (631) 265-3848, ext 15.
